Detailed Description

These are functions that can be used as the values of update keys in select statements:

uop_prepend(): prepend a string to the output of a column
uop_append(): append a string to the output of a column
uop_upper(): return a column in upper case
uop_lower(): return a column in lower case
uop_substr(): extract a substring from a column
uop_plus(): add a numeric value to a column
uop_minus(): subtract a numeric value from a column
uop_multiply(): multiply a column by a numeric value
uop_divide(): divide a column by a numeric value
uop_seq(): returns the value of the given sequence
uop_seq_currval(): returns the last value issued in the current session for the given sequence

Update operator functions can be nested as in the following example:

Parameters

uop	the update operator (one of SQL Update Operators)
arg	the argument to the operator
nest	any nested operation to the operator
