The ZSocketPair class implements a ZeroMQ PAIR
socket for the "exclusive pair" socket pattern.
- Restrictions:
- Qore::PO_NO_NETWORK
- Overview
- A socket of type
PAIR
can only be connected to a single peer at any one time. No message routing or filtering is performed on messages sent over a PAIR
socket.
When a PAIR
socket enters the mute state due to having reached the high water mark for the connected peer, or if no peer is connected, then any ZSocket::send*() operations on the socket shall block until the peer becomes available for sending; messages are not discarded.
Summary of PAIR
characteristics
Property | Value |
Compatible peer sockets | PAIR |
Direction | Bidirectional |
Send/receive pattern | Unrestricted |
Incoming routing strategy | N/A |
Outgoing routing strategy | N/A |
Action in mute state | Block |

- Note
- This class is not designed to be accessed from multiple threads; it was created without locking for fast and efficient use when used from a single thread. For methods that would be unsafe to use in another thread, any use of such methods in threads other than the thread where the constructor was called will cause a
ZSOCKET-THREAD-ERROR
to be thrown.
PAIR
sockets are designed for inter-thread communication across inproc://
transports and do not implement functionality such as auto-reconnection.
